I'm assuming that as soon as I click on Maya it runs a scan, corrupts a dll file and then causes Maya to not open.

So I turned the antivirus off and it worked fine.įrom what I gather the main thing to look out for a thing called Real Time scanning, as this says that it "checks files any time your or your pc uses them".

I have McAfee antivirus on my computer and noticed when reinstalling once that Autodesk's website said that antivirus software can sometimes corrupt dll files. Thought I'd share so that if anyone else is having this issue they may find this solution helpful. Sorry to bump this thread again but, after still occasionally getting this error over the last few weeks, I think I have figured it out. But if there are other scans I can run for specific components I can always give those a try. I actually ran Dell's hardware scan on it last night and it didn't detect any issues.

It has an Intel i7-7700 HQ quad core processor and 16 GB RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics card and it's running Windows 10 Home. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming (that's its name in the UK, think it's the 7567 in the states).
What are your thoughts on this, think it's worth uninstalling any C++ files I have and then reinstalling Maya? This is what was suggested to me but I'm a little hesitant as I don't want to delete them if they'll cause issues for my computer!

dll files could be something to do with a corrupted installer or corrupted C++. Ok cool, so maybe in the meantime I'll try and get Maya 2018, see if that works with my files. Thanks again for the reply and apologies for all the questions! Thought I'd mention in case this is a sign of anything that could have gone wrong. I also found one in my documents just now also called this. Oh and I should also mention that after installing Maya I then installed the updates using the desktop app, think this restarted my laptop and I found a couple of new files on my desktop labelled 'desktop.ini'.

Would it be ok to install Maya 2016 in the meantime, or is this not advised? I would like to use this to see if I can get on with my project whilst Maya 2017 isn't working but also don't want to cause further problems if I end up having to uninstall 2016 and get more errors. I was just a bit hesitant to delete anything which may be to do with my student licence or whatever. Does this come installed when I reinstall Maya? If so I can try it again and this time ensure I delete/uninstall absolutely everything from Autodesk. I tried doing an uninstall the way you suggested last night and Maya worked fine for a few hours, however it has just crashed and I am now getting the error messages again when I try to launch the programme.ĭo you think it is worth trying the uninstall procedure again? Last time I left some of the Autodesk files which were for the desktop app (as this was working fine I thought it best not to uninstall it). I am running a new laptop with Windows 10 and have tried it both with all the updates and without any. Should also add that the project I'm currently working on is using Maya 2017, so I don't really want to use 2018 yet in case this causes any further issues later on down the pipeline.

I also now get the same error message again but this time with the file extension C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2017\bin\python27.dll. Obviously after recently uninstalling and reinstalling several times they all have a the same date where they were last modified. The first time I had this pop up I followed the path to that file and noticed that while all the other files there were last updated when I did my initial install a (couple of months ago) that one had been updated that day.
The message then goes on to suggest a reinstall and states an Error Status 0xc0000020. However today it has done this again, and after two reinstallis in the space of a few hours I'm at my wit's end! Surely a fresh uninstall/reinstall shouldn't be the way to open Maya every time I want to do some work!Īt first I had this error message: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2017\bin\Qt5Core.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. At first it was solved by uninstalling and then reinstalling, I was then able to use Maya fine for a few days. Over the last few days I have been having an issue where Maya 2017 will not open.
